A New Type of Textile Material—Poly Lactic Acid Fiber
► What is Poly Lactic Acid (PLA)?
PLA is biodegradable and bioactive thermoplastic aliphatic polyester derived from renewable resources, such as corn starch, cassava roots, chips or starch, sugarcane.
► What is PLA fiber?
PLA fiber is a kind of biomass fiber made from PLA via molding technologies like melt spinning, and etc.
► Superiorities of PLA Fiber:
Biodegradable: renewable raw materials, fully biodegradable, low-carbon.
Skin comfort: high anti-bacteria rate>98%, excellent skin compatibility.
Breathable: feeling cool while sweating, better than PET.
Good blending performance: pure cotton, viscose, silk, modal and wool blendable, better performance.
Silky: elegant gloss & silky touch.
Soft and thermal: soft touch, good thermo-regulating properties.
Light wearing: small volume mass, light fiber.
UV resistance: better than other synthetics in UV light resistance.
Uninflammable: high limit oxygen index, small fire danger.
Wide application: non-woven fabrics, apparel fabrics and home textile fabrics.
► Why choose our PLA?
Our spinning-level poly-L-lactic acid has very low content in D repetitive unit, more stable melt strength, faster crystallization velocity, and better strength after sizing, especially suitable for spinning. In terms of fields with demand in temperature resistance, the melting point of our stereo-complex PLA is as high as 210℃, the fabric made from which may be ironed, and higher printing and dyeing temperature is acceptable. It provides wider options in terms of specific application.
We have S120 and SC160 PLA products available for fiber. Please refer to product specification for more details.
► The Application of PLA Fiber:
The application of PLA in the field of disposable products is wide and mature, such as non-woven tea bags, disposable surgical gown, diapers, non-woven seedling bags, and so on, due to the biodegradable features. Meanwhile, owing to the natural features of moisture management and skin comfort, PLA is also widely used in sportswear fabric, underwear fabric and infant supplies.
(1) Health and medicine: sanitary towel, diaper, mask, surgical gown, surgical cover, surgical suture, gauze, absorbent cotton for external use, bandage
(2) Clothing: underwear, sportswear, baby clothes, socks, tie
(3) Articles for daily use: tea bags, wet tissue, towel, quilt, pillow, curtain, stuffed toys, filter bag, and etc.
(4) Outdoor goods: seedling non-woven fabric, fabric for frost prevention and weeding
